VIRTUAL OPPORTUNITIES

Virtual opportunities include everything from webinars to other online non-profit organizations like Studentosity. These opportunities are great ways to get involved in the community or  to gather beneficial knowledge as a student. Getting involved in these could even open up more opportunities for the future.

The Journal of Student Science and Technology

A scholarly publication that provides review and citation to research conducted by high school and university students. Students can contribute their own ideas and research, in the form of original research articles, literature reviews and research proposals.

Youth STEM Matters

Youth STEM Matters provides a platform for youth to share their research, innovations and ideas in science, technology, engineering and maths with the world.

STEM Fellowship Ambassador Program

Outreach Ambassadors participate in outreach endeavours such as reaching out to external organizations to initiate the communication for mutually beneficial partnerships. They also act as "Junior Executives" to some executive board committees.

Canada Learning Code Workshops

Students are able to participate in virtual workshops that teach the fundamentals of various coding languages (HTML, CSS, Scratch).

HTML/CSS Camp

This is a volunteer oppourtunity to teach middle school students about HTML/CSS.

Handshake Hackathon

Develop something to be built on a TLD as a team. Winning team keeps the TLD.

The Science of Sin

Join neurobiologist Jack Lewis in a 60 minute live lecture and Q&A on the lastest findings from neuroscience research to discover the science of temptation. Program date: 30 July 2020 at 6pm - 7pm

STEM Entrepreneurship Bootcamp

During the three-day bootcamp (August 11-14th, 2020), students will be led through a structured decision process, where they will learn how to apply current entrepreneurship best practices. During the bootcamp, students will be exposed to successful entrepreneurs, and leading academics, from the Lassonde school of engineering, Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business, as well as staff and ventures from the BEST Lab. Dates: August 11-14

Youth Health Sciences Association

The Youth Health Science Association (YHSA) was established to enlighten youth about the various careers that can be pursued in the healthcare field. Becoming an executive member of the team is an excellent way to get involved with like minded individuals and build crucial leadership skills.

Amplify Youth

Submit a piece of your writing or apply for an exec position in the Amplify Youth organization, a platform to create, express, and make change.

Amazon Hackathon

Develop or build an innovative solution using Amazon Web services to help the nonprofit sector and cultural institutions to engage in challenges in each individual sector.

Webinar: Getting Real with AI

Join the webinar to learn what we can expect AI systems to do for us soon - and what do we definitely need humans for.
