PROGRAMS

Programs are offered by bigger institutions such as universities and companies to provide students with learning opportunities. Often times, the programs are focused on the area that the institution has the most expertise in, so students know they are getting the best experience. Most programs take place in the summer, but there are sometimes programs during the school year as well!

McMaster Mini-Med school

The McMaster Mini-Med School is an annual series of 14 lectures that take place over 7 weeks in February and March. Each week, two Physicians present interesting medical topics to the audience at a level that is easy to understand for people without any medical or healthcare experience. With registration fees, participants receive: A reserved spot in the McMaster Mini-Med School Class of 2020, A McMaster Mini-Med School Certificate of Attendance, Mini-Med School registration package, A McMaster lanyard “entry pass”

Western Engineering Summer Academy

The Western Engineering Summer Academy is designed specifically for enriched Grades 9-12 high school students looking for a challenge this summer. WESA offers students the opportunity to explore these areas of engineering with labs, lectures and hands-on projects. The courses are taught by our very own professors and graduate students. Note: WESA is designed for Grades 9-12 students who excel in science and math. Being enrolled in a gifted program is not a requirement.

Girls in STEM

Students enrolled in this program will have monthly workshops and seminars that will engage them in various topics in the STEM fields. Workshops will be led by female members of various departments throughout the year and most will have a hands-on component to them. The materials covered in the class will be separate from standard school curriculum and pre-requisite knowledge is not required.

A renowned summer program that focuses on problem solving and innovation.

Ontario Science Centre Science School

The Science School provides students with the opportunity to take part in a well-respected, long-standing program that has produced graduates who have gone on to remarkable careers in science, math, engineering, medicine, art, music and more. Thirty students from across are selected after a thorough application process to study at the Ontario Science Centre Science School for a semester. There, they will take their Grade 12 science/math courses and an innovations interdisciplinary course. and will have the challenge and opportunity to apply your knowledge of science to robust questions, and to produce thoughtful, well-communicated solutions.

RTC Summer Research Program for Undergraduates @ The Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum

This program provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to work throughout the summer in a laboratory at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute. Students will work on a project assigned to them by their laboratory supervisor gaining valuable experience and research skills.

Da Vinci Engineering Enrichment Program (DEEP) Summer Academy

The Da Vinci Engineering Enrichment Program (DEEP) is designed for highly motivated high school students with an aptitude for science and math. DEEP provides students from around the world with the opportunity for advanced study in a variety of engineering, technology, business, and science disciplines.The program is designed to expose bright young minds to concepts usually presented in the upper years of an undergraduate degree or in graduate school.

Go CODE Girl at Western University

Go CODE Girl provides an exciting opportunity for girls in grades 7-11 across Ontario to learn about the exciting world of coding and software development and discover opportunities in computing and engineering fields.

Queen's Summer Engineering Program (QSEA)

This program presents students with an overview of engineering using lab facilities and thought-provoking projects to inform and engage students without being technically overwhelming. Participants will get a taste of Queen’s Engineering through team-based design projects involving collaboration, leadership, communication, creativity, and critical thinking.

Encounters with Canada

A program that allows students to visit important Canadian institutions, meet famous and accomplished Canadians, develop your leadership skills and enjoy an extraordinary, bilingual experience.

Summer Student Clinician Scientist Program

The Summer Student Clinician Scientist Program is a local outreach program at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The program is designed to teach TDSB students about the diverse nature of careers in science and health care. This program consists of three components: a mentored research placement, a weekly lecture series, a summer student research symposium. To facilitate participation in the program, students receive a weekly stipend and a monthly student metro pass to facilitate travel to Princess Margaret.

CUTC's 20th Anniversary Conference

With more than 40 industry speakers and many prizes to be one, CUTC's 20th Anniversary Conference is a free and fun experience built for all students interested in design, development, product, entrepreneurship, and all things tech! For every one attendee, the CUTC Foundation will be donating $1 to Black Mental Health Canada
