For most students, exam season is the most dreaded period of the school year. It often means powering through sleepless nights with multiple cups of coffee to study on a bedroom desk under a frail lamp light. To help all those wondering how to take out their stress and replace it with success, here are some useful tips on handling exam season!

TIP #1: BUILD A STUDY ROUTINE AND STICK TO IT
One of the largest contributors of exam stress is disorganization. It can make you feel as if nothing is in your control. It’s time to change that! Find a quiet place in your house, away from any noisy family members or a running TV. Ensure that the spot is well-lit and has a comfortable chair. Study at the same location around the same time every day. Most importantly, take 5-minute breaks every 30 minutes.
TIP #2: BUILD AN EXAM STUDY SCHEDULE
About 1 to 2 months before exam time, print out calendar sheets for the week to come (as can be found here). For each of your courses, make a list of the chapters you need to review for exams and divide them up equally throughout the next couple weeks. This strategy helps avoid all-nighters and cramming information the night before the exam.
TIP #3: SLEEP TIGHT! DON’T LET THE BED BUGS BITE!
Arguably the most difficult item on this list is getting a good night’s sleep. It’s easier said than done to put away the phone and get some shut eye. Sleep deprivation causes concentration difficulties, memory problems, a weakened immune system, mood changes, and high blood pressure (Healthline). A healthy body is a healthy body, so ensuring you get enough rest will lead to better academic performance. 7 to 9 hours of sleep is recommended by most experts.
