5 Undergraduate Computer Science Programs in Ontario

Ontario Tech University (North Oshawa Campus)

This program is 4 or 5 years in length depending on whether a student chooses to take part in co-op. A student may choose to pursue studies in the Honours Computer Science Program or specialize in Data Science, Digital Media or Science and Management. Admission requirements include the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), six 4U credits including English, Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, and Physics or Computer Science. Moreover, students must have a combined minimum average of 70 percent in prerequisite computer science, math and science courses. The cut-off average is a usually high 80.


University of Toronto (St. George Campus )

This program is 4 or 5 years in length depending on whether a student chooses to take part in co-op. After the first year, a student may choose to apply to the Computer Science or Data Science Program. Admission requirements include the OSSD, six 4U credits including English and Calculus with an approximate admission range in the low 90s. In addition, applicants are asked to write a supplemental application that comprises 4 short answer questions. Applicants are asked to reflect on personal experiences and qualities.


McMaster University (Hamilton Campus)

This program is 4 years long with 12 months of co-op. Students can take co-op at any point before their final year. Specialization Programs include Computer Systems, Health Informatics and Bioinformatics, Scientific Computing and Optimization, Security, Privacy and Data Analytics, Software Quality, and Theory and Methodologies of Computation. Admission requirements include six 4U level courses including English, Calculus and Vector and two of Biology, Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, or Physics. The admission range is between 92-95%.


Ryerson University (Toronto Campus)

This program is 4 years long (or 5 years long with co-op). Within the regular degree program, students may choose to concentrate their program plan on software engineering for more in-depth study by picking a set of electives. Students also have the option to specialize in Management Sciences. Admission requirements include the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), six 4U credits including English, Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors or Mathematics of Data Management, and one of Physics, Chemistry or Biology. Applicants must have a minimum overall average of 70%. Admission ranges from 82-90%.


Western University (London, Ontario Campus)

This program is 4 years long (or 5 years long with co-op). Western offers joint programs such as Computer Science and Law, or Computer Science and BioInformatics. Admission requirements include the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), six 4U credits including English, Calculus and Vectors, two of Advanced Functions, Mathematics of Data Management, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Earth and Space or Computer and Information Science. Admission averages in the mid 80’s.
